Renewal Agreement

Last updated on March 12, 2024.

1. The establishment, effectiveness and scope of the agreement.

1.1 This agreement is established between the user and VM regarding domain name renewal. The agreement takes effect immediately when the user clicks to agree, indicating that the user has read, understood, acknowledged, and agreed to abide by this agreement.

1.2 VM reserves the right to modify the terms of this agreement. The revised agreement will take effect immediately after it is published on this website (VM.com). Users can view the latest version of the agreement terms on the corresponding service page before using VM services. If users do not agree to comply with the final revised agreement, please stop using this website.

2. Renewal Rules

2.1 The user agrees that VM bears no responsibility if the user's domain for renewal enters the redemption period before VM receives the user's payment and pays it to the domain management authority.

2.2 The user agrees that not receiving a payment notice from VM cannot be used as a reason or explanation for not paying or renewing on time.

2.3 The user agrees that they are obligated to renew the domains under their account that are in dispute (including but not limited to arbitration, litigation, etc.). If the user does not contact customer service for renewal in time, it will be considered as the user has given up all rights to that domain name. Therefore, any losses caused to the opposing party in the domain name dispute shall be fully compensated by the non-renewing user.

2.4 The user agrees that VM and ICANN have the right to be exempt from litigation for any disputes arising from adjustments to the charging standards. While accepting this agreement, the user should pay all renewal fees for the domain name to VM. Once the domain name renewal is successful, the paid fees are non-refundable.

2.5 VM provides domain renewal services for user-registered domains in two ways: (1) Individual domain renewal; (2) Bulk renewal.

2.6 VM offers an automatic renewal option for each registered domain name. Domain owners can choose the following automatic renewal options in their management interface:

(1)Automatic Renewal (Enabled): The registrar will automatically submit a renewal before the domain name expires. The specific time of successful renewal is based on when the system processing is completed. If there's sufficient balance in the user's account, their domain name will be automatically renewed by the system. Users need to ensure timely top-ups to maintain enough balance for the system to carry out renewal operations. Failure of renewal due to insufficient funds has nothing to do with VM.

(2)Auto-renewal (off): The domain will not be renewed automatically. The domain owner must renew it themselves before the expiration date.

2.7 Within 30 days after the user's domain name expires, the status of the domain name is waiting for renewal. Users can renew their domain names at regular prices. If users do not renew within 30 days, the domain will enter a 30-day redemption period. During this time, users need to pay a redemption fee to renew their domains. Domain names that are not redeemed during the redemption period will be deleted after the end of the redemption period.

2.8 If the user's domain name has expired and they are unable to renew it themselves, they can contact customer service for assistance with renewal.

2.9 If the user exceeds the specified time causing the domain name to not be renewed or enter into a redemption phase, resulting in losses, VM does not bear any responsibility.

2.10 If the user fails to renew before the domain name expires, our company reserves the right to suspend resolution of that domain name, transfer or delete it.

2.11 Users should pay the renewal fee according to the price standards announced by our company. We reserve the right to adjust prices at any time based on market conditions and operational needs, and will announce these changes on our website.

3. Domain expired

3.1 When your domain registration expires, your renewal options will vary depending on the expiration time of the domain. On August 31, 2013, ICANN officially passed the Expired Registration Recovery Policy (ERRP), which requires registrars to disclose important information about expiration notices, fees and redemption processes to registrants and potential customers. All necessary information and disclosures can currently be found in multiple locations on the website. However, from the perspective of assisting registrants, this article covers links to all necessary elements in the new policy.

3.2 After a domain expires, the renewal process is affected by the rules of each domain suffix and its registry. Some domains (such as country and regional code top-level domains) may have special renewal requirements.

3.3 The domain needs to be renewed before it expires. If the domain name has expired, you can still renew it within a certain grace period (usually 30 days) after expiration at the regular renewal price. On the 31st day after expiration, it enters the redemption period, during which redeeming the domain name is much more expensive than renewing it.

3.4 We will send you several emails 30 days before and after the domain expiration date to notify you about the expiration matters.

3.5 After the redemption period (usually 30 days), if you do not renew the domain within this period, it will be deleted. VM will no longer control this domain and cannot renew it. The domain is removed from your account and you can no longer renew it. After the registry releases the domain, it will be reissued to the public for anyone to register. You may be able to register this domain, but VM cannot inform you when a registry will release a domain for registration.

3.5.1 20 days after expiration, the domain will be suspended. It's still in your account but in an inactive state. You can still renew it at the regular renewal price.

3.5.2 On the 31st day after expiration, the domain name will still be retained in your account, but it is now invalid. You can manually redeem it at the redemption price.

3.5.3 60 days after expiration, the domain will be removed from your account and you will no longer be able to renew or redeem it.

4. Costs and Payments

4.1 The user agrees to pay VM the relevant fees according to the charging standards published by VM, and agrees that each renewal should apply the charging standard at the time of renewal. For inquiries on charging standards, please click on the VM Charging Standards page.

4.2 If the user has any objections to the notification content of fee settlement items such as charging standards and service usage period provided by VM, they should inform VM in a timely manner via email after receiving the VM notification. Upon receipt of the user's email notice, VM will verify it. Otherwise, it is deemed that the user acknowledges the notification content of fee settlement items provided by VM. Both parties should settle and pay fees according to the notification content of fee settlement items provided by VM.

4.3 VM's submission for the redemption or renewal of a user's domain name is based on the situation and query results in the domain name database of the domain name management organization at that time. However, no conflict during the query does not necessarily mean that this domain name can definitely be redeemed or renewed successfully.

4.4 Renewal fees already paid by the user are non-refundable, unless our company is unable to provide renewal services due to technical failures or other force majeure circumstances.

5. Supplementary Provisions

5.1 VM refers to SINO PROFIT (HONG KONG) LIMITED and its potentially associated operating companies, with the domain: VM.com.

5.2 The titles of this agreement are for convenience and easy reference only, and have no impact on the interpretation of the mutual agreement unless otherwise specified in this agreement. Regardless of purpose, all contract terms and agreements within this agreement should be interpreted as separate and independent contracts or agreements. If any court/authority with jurisdiction deems any term (or part thereof) of this agreement to be illegal, invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms (or parts thereof) shall remain unaffected to the fullest extent permitted by law, still valid and enforceable.
